World Renew has been working in Haiti since 1975, supporting local partners and communities through leadership training and programming in food security and agriculture, economic opportunity, and disaster response.
WHAT WE DO
An incredible artistic tradition, cloud forests, and unique culture are just some of the lesser-known aspects of Haiti. While Haiti is the first Caribbean nation to attain sovereignty, it has been plagued by political instability, violence, and poverty. Haiti is one of the most vulnerable countries to natural disasters, mainly hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes—and it remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. More than 4 million Haitians, nearly half the population, experience chronic food insecurity. World Renew’s work in Haiti focuses on improving literacy rates and livelihoods, addressing hunger through sustainable agriculture, and providing disaster response to communities in need.
