This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program, a unique, “made-in-Canada” approach to welcoming and resettling refugees. Through partnerships between government, faith communities, and organizations, over 200,000 refugees have been given the opportunity to build new lives in Canada since 1979.

World Renew and partnering churches have been part of this effort from its beginning, and have settled over 7000 of those refugees.

Today, the number of refugees and displaced people has risen dramatically. There are now 68 million refugees and internally displaced peoples in the world who are waiting, often for years, even decades.

All are clinging to the hope that someday they will be able to rebuild a sense of home. Now, more than ever, Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program is a small beacon of hope in a dark world of conflict, persecution, and suffering.

For this historic anniversary, World Renew is celebrating “God’s Faithfulness.”

The need is great, but God has faithfully provided the resources, donor support, and sponsoring faith communities to help refugee families.

Your prayers and generous gifts enable World Renew’s Refugee Program to provide training, support and resources to sponsoring churches across Canada. Please give, and help refugees in urgent need of protection.
