Advocating for Change: Equipping People for Advocacy and Justice

The two workshops were created and hosted through a partnership between World Renew and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), along with the wider ministry of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), as part of an ongoing effort to equip people for advocacy and justice. Cindy Stover, a Justice Mobilizer for the CRCNA, developed the workshops to be a resource for congregations and individuals. The all-day workshops included sessions on biblical advocacy and how to communicate with local, provincial, and national leaders.

"I Am Not My Own"

Jeremy (Benjamin) Zeyl is crossing Canada with his family, raising money for World Renew's work in Nigeria, local ministries chosen by the churches at each stop, and his I Am Not My Own Worship Ministries. He has played concerts in cities and towns from Charlottetown, P.E.I., to Smithers, B.C., and from Emo, Ont., to Edmonton, Alta., helping to raise more than $100,000 for ministry, a good start on the way toward a goal of $500,000.

I Am Not My Own Tour

The Ontario musician will be leading worship, giving concerts, and sharing his songs. One of those songs is “I Am Not My Own,” based on Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 1, which asks, “What is your only comfort in life and in death?” The answer begins, “That I am not my own, but belong – body and soul, in life and in death – to my faithful savior, Jesus Christ.”
