US Hurricane Matthew Damage

In North Carolina, World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) and our partners are waiting for flood water, caused by heavy rain and storm surge on the coast, to recede before volunteers start to clean up residents’ homes and property.

What is HAppening?

I catch my kids saying, "What is HAppening?!" in an exasperated tone - and their facial expression, well, mirrors their tone. It’s really funny actually—they are 5 and 3. The baby can’t talk yet but I imagine he will pick that up from his siblings as time goes on.

World Renew DRS Responds to Hurricane Matthew on the U.S. East Coast

“We got a phone call at 10 pm Saturday night from our United Methodist partner in North Carolina. They asked us if we could send volunteers to help with clean up after Hurricane Matthew flooded the area last week,” said World Renew DRS Regional Managers Rick and Bonnie Wiersma. “The community needs help; now we need volunteers to provide that help.”

World Renew Returns to Franklinton after New Flooding

“I don’t think I can do this again,” said John, a 70-year-old homeowner in Franklinton, Louisiana.  John’s home was damaged by Hurricane Isaac in 2012, but he was able to recover with assistance. Today, his home and hundreds like it are again in need of repair. “We come in the name of Christ, with an attitude of prayer, to bring restoration to people’s hearts as well as their homes.”
