We are excited to share with you a special initiative, the 2019 BVOR Fund! The 2019 BVOR (Blended Visa Office Referred) Fund is a cost shared program with Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Refugee Hub, the Shapiro Foundation, G. Barrie Landry, the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto and private sponsors.
For the twelve month sponsorship period, IRCC will provide six months of income support for the newcomers and the Foundations will provide income support for the other six months. Private sponsors will provide startup costs and all the settlement support for the newcomers for the sponsorship year. BVOR refugees are approved for resettlement and are travel ready, which means that sponsored refugees can arrive in Canada between two and four months after an application is submitted to IRCC.
In order to access this fund, an application to sponsor an individual or a family through the BVOR program must be made between May 2 and August 31. For further details, please click on this link:
BVOR sponsorship is an excellent opportunity for churches that have never participated in refugee sponsorship to get involved in a program that is so life-giving. World Renew’s Refugee Program is encouraging Canadian churches to reach out to their neighbor and offer protection to refugees by considering participating in this unique opportunity. The Refugee Program of World Renew will provide assistance every step of the way.
If you are interested in having your church take part in this opportunity or to learn more about it, please contact Lisa Magliocco.
