Current Disaster Offerings

When a disaster happens, most people can’t drop everything they’re doing and fly around the world to lend a helping hand. But that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing to be done. Many who walk through your church doors on a Sunday want to help those affected by disaster, they just don’t know where to start.

For 55 years, World Renew has worked closely with local partners to provide life-saving assistance to families who have been devastated by disaster. And since this work first began in 1962, churches in North America have been the backbone of World Renew.

This support reached over 435,000 people in 29 different countries during 2016-2017.

Today, this support remains as crucial as ever, and we invite you to consider partnering with us in four different ways:

  • Partner through prayer: During his ministry on Earth, Jesus met the very real physical needs of many people (Matthew 14:13-21). Yet in everything he did, he approached it with an attitude of humility and prayer (Matthew 14:22-23). If the Son of God prayed about his ministry, how much more do we need to pray? Please consider praying for those families affected by disaster, and for the local staff who are delivering life-saving assistance.
  • Partner through financial support: World Renew received almost $1.6 million from churches for disasters in 2016-2017. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership of the body of Christ, coming together to generously support people affected by devastation. Encourage your church to hold an offering to respond to disaster through World Renew.
  • Partner through volunteering: In 2016-2017, World Renew was supported by 2,885 volunteers who donated 250,392 hours to World Renew - roughly equivalent to 120 full-time employees for one year. Use your time and talents to respond to the devastation caused by disasters and be part of changing the story. For opportunities, visit
  • Partner through raising awareness: With so much going on in the world, it’s impossible to keep up with everything. We understand that, and want to provide your congregation with an avenue through which you can learn not only about ongoing natural disasters and conflicts in the world, but also about what’s being done to help those in need and display the love of Christ. Sign up for our Church Newsletter to receive alerts when World Renew is responding to a major disaster.

Funds are currently needed in the following areas to ensure that World Renew can continue providing support to those who need it most:
