Emergency Supplies Arrive in Liberia

(LIBERIA) On September 24, 452 cartons containing 3,765 kilograms of supplies to fight Ebola arrived in Liberia. These supplies were funded by World Renew and shipped and organized by MAP International. The Christian Health Association of Liberia (CHAL) is using the supplies in their fight against Ebola.

(KENYA) The settlement of Banita lies in the Rift Valley of Kenya, about 1.5 hours from the busy town of Nakuru. The area was once a sisal plantation but was allocated to squatters and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in 2011. At that time, each household was given about five acres of land. The area is semi-arid and characterized by low rainfall, estimated at 500 mm a year, with high temperatures, low humidity, and infertile soils.

PHILIPPINES - I am now in my second week of my fourth trip to the Philippines following the typhoon of Nov 8th 2013. I spent the week in Tacloban, Guiuan and Dulag. It was quite exciting - 10 months after the super typhoon - to be able to see some of the livelihoods that World Renew is helping to rehabilitate that are helping people get back to normal and to stand on their own feet.

2014 Flooding in Pakistan Reminds People of 2010’s Devastation

PAKISTAN - On September 2, 2014 a torrential downpour fell on Pakistan’s twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The flooding that ensued filled people with worry as they were reminded of the horror that occurred back in 2010 - when one fifth of Pakistan’s land mass was flooded, 20 million people were affected and families struggled for years to recover.
