VolunteerDetroit, Michigan - Disaster Response Mission Trip
This is in response to August 2014 & July 2016 flooding.
Floods of early August 2014 impacted Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties. This flooding was the worst natural disaster in the US for 2014 and impacted more than 100,000 homes. Many elderly, disabled, or otherwise vulnerable, still need help repairing flood-damaged homes.

Scope of Work
Insulation and drywall, flooring, trim, painting, etc. We are partnering organizations that have a steady presence in the community. There is a local construction coordinator who will assign work projects that are appropriate to the size and skill level of your group.
Must be 14 years old and anyone under 18 years of age must have adult supervision.
Skill Level Requirement
No particular skills required, but highly preferable for each group to have at least one skilled person who can take the lead on group projects.
Accommodations and Meals
Housing is available at a church on the east side of Detroit. Plan to bring an air mattress or cot, sleeping bag/bedding, pillow, towels, and personal toiletries. A kitchen is available for your group to prepare your own meals. Showers will be at a nearby YMCA or health center.
Cost is $15 per person per night payable to the local site coordinator. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip such as travel and meals. World Renew does not charge for arranging group mission trips.

Materials provided. Some tools available, but more info on tools that would be helpful to bring will be available closer to the service date.
What to Bring
Sleeping bag/bedding, pillow, towels, toiletries. Other details provided by the hosting organization prior to arrival. A general list of what to bring can be found in Preparing to Serve.
