World Renew volunteers are needed to help families affected by the floods return to their homes.

About this Mission Trip

Where

Hattiesburg, Mississippi

When

Ongoing. Groups volunteer typically for 2 weeks or less.

Group Size

There is a local coordinator who will assign work projects that are appropriate to the size and skill level of your group.

Age Requirement

Generally high school age and up. Groups including youth must have the appropriate adult to youth ratio and adults who are able to supervise youth on work projects. While teens are welcomed, must be over 18 to handle power tools.

Scope of Work

Work could include drywall, painting, roofing, flooring, framing, etc. There may still be a need for demolition, muck-out, general water damage repair, siding repair, sheetrock finish work, painting, replace flooring/trim, etc.

Accommodations and Meals

The volunteer house offers bunk beds, restrooms, showers and a kitchen to prepare your own meals. This 10,000 sq. ft. home offers the comfort of home. There is a maximum capacity of 60 volunteers at one time.

Cost

The cost is $25/person/night. Fee is payable to the local organization in Hattiesburg. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip. World Renew DRS does not charge for arranging group mission trips. (Updated 7/2019)

Skill Level Requirement

It is helpful to have a couple of people with construction experience in your group, but this is not required. The local construction coordinator will provide guidance on work projects.

Tools and Materials

Supplies, tools, and safety equipment are provided. Volunteers can bring work gloves if they like.

What to Bring

Must bring bedding and/or sleeping bag, towels, and personal toiletries. A general list of what to bring can be found in Preparing to Serve.
