World Renew volunteers are needed to help families affected by the floods return to their homes.

About this Mission Trip

Where

North Carolina- Various. Hurricane Matthew devastated multiple area including Fayetteville, Lumberton, and Tarboro so the exact location you would serve at will depend on several factors including what projects are ready at the time of your trip and the size and skill levels in your group. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with this.

When

Ongoing. Groups volunteer typically for 2 weeks or less.

Group Size

There is a local coordinator who will assign work projects that are appropriate to the size and skill level of your group.

Age Requirement

Generally high school age and up. Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Scope of Work

Work could include a wide range of project including insulation, sheetrock/drywall, painting, hanging doors, installing cabinets, trim work, installing flooring, gutting out homes, demolition, etc. There is a local construction coordinator who will assign work projects that are appropriate to the size and skill level of your group.

Accommodations and Meals

Wherever your group is placed, there will be a church or community building to stay in with space to sleep, showers/restrooms, and a kitchen to prepare your own meals.

Cost

There is no cost, but a donation to the organizations hosting your group is welcome. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip. World Renew DRS does not charge for arranging group mission trips.

Skill Level Requirement

It is helpful to have a couple of people with construction experience in your group, but this is not required. The local construction coordinator will provide guidance on work projects.

Tools and Materials

The local organization will provide the materials. Some tools are available and skilled tradesmen are encouraged to take their own tools. Please discuss this with the local construction coordinator during the planning process.

What to Bring

Must bring bedding and/or sleeping bag, towels, and personal toiletries. A general list of what to bring can be found in Preparing to Serve.
