About this Service Trip

Where

Various areas in North Carolina.

The exact location depends on several factors, including what projects are ready at the time of your trip and the size and skill levels in your group.

When

Anytime throughout the year

Group Size

4-40 people

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer here. Volunteers under 18 years old are permitted to work on the construction site, but must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Scope of Work

Your group may be working on a variety or projects including repairing/replacing roofs, siding, windows and doors, insulating, dry walling, floors and doors, cabinets and vanities, trimming, painting, etc.

Accommodations and Meals

Because work is spread out across several counties, where you stay will depend on where you will be working. Housing will most likely be in a church. Most have bunk beds, all have showers or shower trailers, and kitchens to prepare your own meals.

RV hook-ups may be available at some locations.

Cost

There is no fee. You are welcome to leave a donation with the local recovery group with whom you will work; donations will help defray the cost of hosting volunteer groups. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip.

Skill Level Requirement

It is most beneficial for your group to have a couple of skilled carpenters. However, there is always work available no matter the skill set. Your group could do everything from roofs, insulation, sheetrock, trim, flooring, painting, siding, windows, electrical, plumbing and kitchen cabinets.

Tools and Materials

All tools and materials are provided.

What to Bring

Must bring bedding and/or sleeping bag, towels, and personal toiletries. A general list of what to bring can be found in Preparing to Serve.
