There is a large number of families across six counties who need help with home repairs. Hurricane Michael was one of the strongest hurricanes to hit the United States. Construction will take several years.

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer here. Volunteers under 18 years old are permitted to work on the construction site, but must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Scope of Work

Primarily repairing wind damage. However, many homes suffered roof damage resulting in limited interior water damage. On the exterior, you will be repairing/replacing roofs, siding, windows and doors. For interior damage, you will be insulating, dry walling, floors and doors, cabinets and vanities, trimming, painting, etc.

Accommodations and Meals

You’ll be staying at an elementary school in Panama City that has been transformed to host volunteers for the recovery efforts.

  • Capacity for 20 volunteers housed in former classrooms.
  • The kitchen and dining area are located in the school cafeteria.
  • Plan to sleep on a bunk bed with a mattress, so bring a sleeping bag or linens. There should be pillows available. Bring your own towel.
  • There’s a washer & dryer
  • Dinner will be provided on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We look at Wednesday and Friday night as your opportunity to sample the local cuisine. Each weekday we also provide breakfast and bag lunch.

Volunteers may be asked to support the hospitality host with meal preparation, serving and clean up.RV hook-ups may be available depending on the date and situation

There is room to park an RV without a hook up.


The registration fee of $175 per person per week covers room & board, miscellaneous volunteer expenses as well as limited construction expenses. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip.

Skill Level Requirement

It is most beneficial for your group to have a of couple skilled carpenters. However, there is always work available no matter the skill level.

Tools and Materials

Tools and materials are provided but bring everything you can. We are rebuilding our inventory. As a minimum, bring your personal items: tape measure, utility knife, hammer, pencil, tool belt, and gloves. If you are driving and have room, consider bringing a miter saw and portable table saw.

What to Bring

Must bring bedding and/or sleeping bag, towels, and personal toiletries. A general list of what to bring can be found in Preparing to Serve.
