Disaster Clean Up – North America
Whether it be tornadoes, hurricanes, or floods, volunteers who lend their time to help clean-out homes of survivors make a big impact on people going through a very difficult time.
When to Volunteer
This opportunity is sporadic and varies by disaster. Volunteers can help with clean up in the week or two after a disaster or even six months after depending on the size and scope of the damage.
Roles to Fill/Skills Needed
Any necessary training will be done on site. Must be able to lift, shovel, and move debris without difficulty.
Tools and Materials
Must be 18 years of age and up.
Housing will vary but could range from air mattress on the floor of a church gym, to bedrooms with beds. It all depends on what lodging is available within the disaster-impacted community.
