The congregation of St. Thomas Reformed Church (STRC) is actively helping its community recover and is ready to host volunteer groups. Join the efforts to clean up and rebuild after these severe storms. STRC is serving as a staging area for receiving and storing shipments of relief supplies and is providing food and other supplies to members of the community. In addition, STRC has partnered with local nonprofit My Brother’s Workshop to assist with providing free meals.

Key Scripture: “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake” (2 Corinthians 4:5).

The Work

Volunteers are needed to help with cleanup and construction, including removal of debris, cleaning, putting up tarps, and organizing and distributing supplies. The community would also welcome musicians, teachers, and anyone with a heart for kids to help provide positive programming for neighborhood children. Volunteers to help prepare and serve food would be appreciated as well.

Accommodations

St. Thomas Reformed Church has a mission house for hosting groups. This building was not damaged by the storms and has two rooms with eight beds each, along with a living room that can sleep four. Bathrooms and a kitchen are available in the building. Since resources are limited on the island at this time, groups should plan to either eat at local restaurants or prepare simple meals in the mission house kitchen. **Do not book any airline tickets until you have received confirmation from World Renew regarding your desired dates of service.**

Group Size

20  maximum

Cost

There is no set fee; however, we suggest a donation made payable directly to STRC of any amount to help offset the cost of hosting groups.  Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip including travel and food. World Renew does not charge for planning mission trips.

Packing Suggestions

Mosquito repellent, sunblock, work boots and gloves, snacks/food, towel, bedding (for twin beds), flashlight (in case of temporary power outage).
