I recently just returned from a visit to the East Coast of Nicaragua, one of many trips I have made to this region of the country in the past few months. The purpose of the trip was to meet with a team of agricultural trainers who are part of the food security and sustainable agriculture program that World Renew (formerly CRWRC) is implementing with indigenous communities on the East Coast.
I recently just returned from a visit to the East Coast of Nicaragua, one of many trips I have made to this region of the country in the past few months. The purpose of the trip was to meet with a team of agricultural trainers who are part of the food security and sustainable agriculture program that World Renew (formally CRWRC) is implementing with indigenous communities on the East Coast.
World Renew began the program in 2009 in an effort to extend its vision of bringing justice and restoration to communities in a region of the country that is highly vulnerable, exploited, and suffers from food gaps of up to four months out of the year.
The food security program is seeking to build up farmers by training them in sustainable agriculture techniques that not only empower them to provide for their families but also have an impact at the community level by sharing their knowledge and skills.
In this season of advent, we reflect in faith and wonder on the life-giving mystery of Christ. I invite you to join with me in prayer that the work that is being done alongside these farmers can bring real change to the communities and that they and their families may be a tangible sign of life and hope for others.
Financial Update
In order to continue working in the evaluation and monitoring of this food security project, I am raising $3,900 this year to cover a portion of the cost of my time in Nicarauga. Would you please pray and consider if you are able to contribute to World Renew’s work in Nicaragua in this way? You can do so by following this link.
Thank you, as always, for your support, prayers, and encouragement.
Peace and joy,
Bethany
