FOOD SECURITY

Despite our ability to produce enough food to feed the global population, hunger still exists. It robs families of health and opportunity. World Renew works to end world hunger by training farmers in sustainable agriculture and by teaching families about healthy diets and nutrition. Together, we partner with families around the world, so they can access enough healthy food.

Our Food Security Work

Food security means knowing where your next meals are coming from—not just for today, but for the weeks, months and years to come. It also means knowing the food will be nutritious enough to lead active and healthy lives, and fuel the futures of children.

We work with families so that they can develop the resources needed to fight hunger and improve their ability to grow and raise their own food. Through World Renew, families receive the training, tools, seeds, and support to grow crops and raise livestock sustainably, even as they face a changing climate.

Give today and help end hunger for families around the world.

Sustainable Farming is Changing Milon’s Story

Bangladesh is at the forefront of our changing climate. In recent years, the low-lying country experienced more cyclones and flooding that brought saltwater further inland, depleting the soil and causing crops to fail.

This was the story in Milon’s village until farmers received the training and tools they needed to adapt to climate change and to grow enough food for their families. Milon works at the village’s composting pit where they gather organic waste to create thick, rich soil for their fields. The compost is so full of nutrients that it looks like chocolate cake!

As Milon cares for the soil, she has seen her vegetable crops increase—enough to feed her family every day. Milon even sells the composted soil to other farmers for a profit. And, with her sizable earnings, Milon proudly shares that she has been able to pay for her son’s education.

Composting is a small start to addressing the effects of climate change and hunger, but for families who rely entirely on the land for their livelihoods, it is an important one. Thank you for sharing hope with Milon and other farmers in Bangladesh who are growing food on the frontlines in the fight against hunger.
