Our Work
Global hunger is on the rise, due in part to three main components: conflict, climate, and COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in food production, supply and distribution that resulted in the number of people struggling with hunger globally to double to 276 million.
Extreme weather is also adding to global hunger. In the last two years, regions in East Africa have experienced four consecutive failed rainy seasons. An estimated 36.4 million people have been affected, 21.7 million of those requiring food assistance.
World Renew works with local partners to help address critical food needs around the world in regions affected by drought, conflict, and other disasters. We provide emergency food assistance where needs are urgent and we help communities build their long-term food security through our climate-adaptive farming programs.
Renewing Hope
“The days we used to suffer because of food are now over. We have quality food to eat and in large quantities that can last for long. Please thank the donors for this kind project. I pray for the long life of all people involved in making sure my family gets the food.”
– Rebecca, mother, South Sudan
