World Renew Canada Appoints Acting Executive Director
January 2025, Burlington, Ontario — Mike White has assumed the responsibilities of Acting Canadian Executive Director for World Renew. White, who is based in World Renew’s Canadian headquarters in Burlington, Ontario, has served as Chief Marketing & Philanthropy Officer since January of 2024.
His experience includes a 15-year track record in leading marketing and fundraising efforts for international development non-profits, including roles at World Vision and Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA). Prior to his contributions to the non-profit sector, White spent over 24 years in the telecommunications industry at firms such as Bell Canada, Nortel, and Alcatel-Lucent.
White holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, and a master’s in theological studies (MTS) from Tyndale Seminary. He further enriched his leadership capabilities by completing the Arrow Leadership program in 2022.
“World Renew’s commitment to justice, mercy, and Christ-like service is exemplary,” says White. “The organization’s innovative approach to shifting power to partners and communities has led to remarkable impact, and the ‘Imagine More’ strategy is truly inspirational. Serving in this capacity is a deep honour, and I look forward to learning from our supporters, partners, participants, and staff.”
White steps into this role as World Renew Canada’s Board of Directors announced that Jamie McIntosh’s time with World Renew ended in January. McIntosh was Co-Executive Director for two years has made many positive contributions to the organization.
In particular, and most recently, McIntosh has expanded World Renew’s access to various sources of funding, supported strong partnership cultivation, and helped build a strongly aligned, newly recruited global executive team. “Jamie’s dedication to and passion for World Renew’s global mission, his team, and external community members has been evident and commendable,” said Jeff Adams, president of the board, in a statement. “We wish him every success in the future, and we celebrate his many accomplishments during his tenure at World Renew.”
While the board begins a recruitment process for a permanent replacement, Mike White has stepped in as Acting Canadian Executive Director, serving alongside US Executive Director Carol Bremer-Bennett, to maintain the Co-Directorate which is a vital element of World Renew’s executive structure. The board is certain that the commitment and excellence of the World Renew team will continue and therefore enable the organization to fulfill its mission and values, serving those made vulnerable by disaster, conflict, and injustice.
“I am confident in Mike White’s integrity, intelligence, and passion for the global ministry of World Renew,” says Bremer-Bennett. “I look forward to co-leading with him in service to God’s call for justice and compassion. World Renew’s faithful commitment to changing the story of poverty to one of hope and possibility remains steadfast globally as we seek to live justice, love mercy, and serve Christ.”
