Food Security to Education Opportunity: Row Shan’s Family Story
Meet Row Shan, a mother of two in Bangladesh, who has seen her crops reliably grow more bountiful with World Renew training in sustainable farming in place.
For Row Shan, having a place at the table means that her daughters will have the opportunity and hope that she didn’t have.
As a child in Bangladesh, Row Shan longed to attend school but instead became one of the 72% of girls in the country who do not complete school. Today as a mother of two daughters, she has partnered with World Renew’s sustainable farming initiatives to ensure that her family’s food and income are more secure. Now Row Shan and her husband can afford to send their daughters to school.
Through World Renew, families like Row Shan’s receive the tools, training, and support required to plant and harvest not only enough food for their family to eat, but also for their family to invest and flourish.
For Row Shan, food security has allowed her to love her children in a way that carries deep meaning for her: education. As more families like Row Shan’s achieve this agricultural independence, more daughters like hers will have the opportunity to finish school.
