Pictures tell a thousand words.

This summer World Renew offers a gallery of images from nine countries, giving you a close up look at communities engaged in the work of renewal and building resilience.

South Sudan has seen far too much suffering…slavery, civil war, many famines, isolation, economic collapse, etc…The struggle for independence was bitter, with communities facing horrendous abuses

Discarded bombs and weapons are a major concern; here are some collected in the World Renew project areas in 2014.

Despite the past, there is good news in South Sudan. About 80% of people in South Sudan are enthusiastic Christians and communities are responding to the encouragement and support provided by Christian Reformed Churches all over North America.

So what’s World Renew doing here? We’re working with poor families to increase food production, in 2015 we’re training 625 farming families.

As well as training, farmers get seeds and tools to help them famine; families pay 25% of the cost.

In another village, seeds are prepared for distribution to farmers .

And this is what our work is all about…Mrs. Awate and her family are at last growing enough food (corn and peanuts in this picture).

We use our weekly radio programs to help reduce conflict between farmers and cattle keepers.

A new trauma healing program is being prepared to help people recovering from war.

We are the World Renew team in South Sudan (with a few family members) Thank you to everyone in Canada and the USA for your wonderful support.
