Ride to Renew: Celebrating the Impact

From November 1-8, a group of 36 cyclists and World Renew supporters pedaled across Florida for Ride to Renew, a fundraiser in support of life-changing farming programs.

The event brought riders from around North America together to cycle close to 250 miles from Clearwater to Canaveral National Seashore. Through peer-to-peer fundraising efforts and the support of more than 560 donors, Ride to Renew raised over $188,000 to date. These funds will equip 940 global farmers with training in sustainable farming solutions to help them achieve food security for their families and communities—transforming the lives of up to 5,640 people.

Gary Van Noort, one of this year’s Ride to Renew cyclists, said he was motivated to participate in order to help support farmers. “I grew up on a farm, and I know it’s not an easy job,” Gary shared. “I pray that we can move them forward.”

After arriving on November 1, cyclists kicked off Ride to Renew the following morning by dipping their tires in the water at Clearwater Beach. The ride then began along the Florida Coast to Coast (C2C) Trail. Along the route, riders enjoyed a variety of scenery, from palm trees and coastal towns to farms and conservation lands.

As the week progressed, riders pedaled eastward through Trinity, Spring Hill, and Clermont before crossing the greater Orlando area to Sanford and Titusville. Lodging consisted of hotels and inns along the route. To support the cyclists, rest stops were stocked with water and snacks every 15-20 miles, and a team of 18 volunteers remained on standby to assist with any needs. On November 7, riders crossed the finish line and dipped their tires in the Atlantic Ocean before enjoying a celebratory farewell dinner.

Thanks to riders, donors, volunteers, sponsors, and staff, the funds raised from Ride to Renew will bring hope and change to vulnerable farmers and their families. Click below to learn more about how World Renew works to help end hunger around the world.
