This free virtual trip for high school students offers you the unique opportunity to build community with people who care about the climate crisis and to understand climate justice initiatives currently underway in Honduras: a country currently experiencing pronounced food shortages due to climate change. Join World Renew for our first ever virtual tour: an experience that promises to shape your faith and your future as you dream about your place in caring for God’s world.

  • Session Durations: 60-90 minutes per session

  • Attendance: Interest-based, for high schoolers only. No previous knowledge or experience needed.

Virtual Sessions

April 9 – Seek Justice: Climate Stories from Your World

This 60 minute session from 6:30-7:30pm EST features Carol Bremer-Bennett Executive Director, World Renew USA.

Connect with other passionate high schoolers as you share together the impact of climate change and what you think justice looks like for a world in climate crisis. You’ll also have the chance to meet the executive director of World Renew and learn how climate change informs World Renew’s justice work around the world. This will be a lively and engaging exchange of ideas and stories.

April 10 – Seek Transformation: On the Ground in Honduras

This 90 minute session from 11:30am-1:00pm EST features Rolando Pinzon Global Volunteer Program Bridger, Honduras.

Learn how the climate crisis is impacting food security and growth potential for families in Honduras. This session offers first-hand interviews with community members who know the stakes of climate change personally and are fighting to change the story for their families and churches. Come with ears ready to listen and questions ready to ask as you meet these brave and creative partners in World Renew’s work.

April 11 – Seek Action: Creating Change in North America

This 60 minute session at 2:00-3:00pm EST features Laura Harjanto and Cameron Kritikos.

How can you apply the lessons you’ve learned on the ground in Honduras to your daily life? Laura and Cameron will guide you in developing a personal action plan to help engage the climate crisis right from your local community. We’ll also talk about the Climate Witness Project, an initiative started by World Renew and the Christian Reformed Church’s Office of Social Justice.
