2. Build Strong Relationships: For sustainable community growth, fostering genuine connections is essential. Community building involves intentionally creating and nurturing vital relationships.
3. Put Citizens at the Core: Citizens should be active participants in shaping their communities, not just recipients of services or aid.
4. Engage Diverse Voices: Leaders should involve individuals from various voluntary associations, faith communities, neighborhoods, and local businesses to enrich the community dialogue.
5. Discover What Inspires Action: Understanding what drives people and listening to their needs gives people the opportunity to engage with and contribute to their communities.
6. Identify People’s Motivations: People are most effective when they address issues that they are passionate about, contributing their efforts and creativity. Every community is brimming with potential for action when they are motivated for change.
7. Prioritize Listening: Effective community decisions come from meaningful conversations where everyone’s voice is heard, including marginalized groups.
8. Encourage Inquiry: Generating ideas as a community to solve problems is more sustainable and effective than outsiders simply providing answers.

4. Participatory Appraisal: This method empowers community members to take a leading role in the research process, ensuring a more inclusive approach to gathering insights and making decisions.

World Renew believes that local organizations and faith communities are the most effective agents of development. In 2024, we worked alongside 67 local partners and faith communities worldwide.

We also work with international organizations and networks to strengthen these local partners and enhance their impact in the communities where we work together. In all our programs, we empower local partners by enhancing their capabilities, enabling them to lead community-driven initiatives, and supporting them in creating their own solutions.

World Renew’s community development programs have empowered individuals and communities worldwide by addressing critical needs such as education, agriculture, health, gender justice, trauma healing, and economic sustainability.

In 2024, 254,769 participants actively participated in our development programs—while 305,218 people received disaster assistance—fostering resilience, self-reliance, and long-term positive change. In the last 5 years, World Renew community development programs have given more than 1.2 million people the tools, training, and resources to overcome extreme poverty and build a brighter future.
