Our Peace & Justice Work

World Renew helps communities come together to confront injustice, supporting them with training and tools to make positive change. Through our peace and justice work, we aim to ensure everyone has equal rights and opportunities.

At World Renew, gender equality is at the core to addressing key issues of poverty. We know that when women and girls thrive, so do entire communities. Our gender justice programs tackle issues like child and forced marriages, gender-based violence, and equal access to community resources.

Gender Justice

Globally, 1 in 10 women live in extreme poverty. To address poverty, it’s crucial to get more women and girls involved in making decisions at home and in the community. Through our programs, entire communities—women, girls, boys, and men—give input into key issues like economic development, health, education, marriage, and more. Equal participation is key to creating better opportunities for everyone.

Peacebuilding

Ending conflict starts with building a solid foundation for peace and justice. World Renew’s programs help train skilled leaders in peacebuilding and encourage strong community ties to prevent future violence. Trauma healing groups support survivors of violence to find healing and to develop positive coping strategies. When you give, you create lasting hope for people affected by conflict and violence.

Youth Advocacy

Globally, 1 in 5 girls are married before age 18, impacting their lives and their communities forever. World Renew supports peer adolescent and youth groups to help girls and boys learn about their rights. Youth are encouraged to positively influence their communities about key issues affecting them, like early childhood marriage and gender-based violence. Every girl and boy deserves the chance to reach their God-given potential.

FINDING HOPE HROUGH HEALING

“When war broke out in South Sudan, I came alone with my son. I came to Uganda about two years ago when I saw people were being [killed]. It took me two days to walk here, and I was so traumatized. . . I was very alone. The trauma healing and peacebuilding workshops have been very important. The main thing I’ve learnt is how important it is to love. Things were not peaceful before because of the trauma, but because of the teaching I have changed.”
