Yun and Neum live in a humble thatched house. Yet they are sending their oldest daughter to school in the capital city and sending their other children to the local school. Their total cost per month: $125 – a very large sum for subsistence farmers in Cambodia!

Through World Renew’s church mobilization strategy, Yun and Neum are able to make ends meet. They received the loan of one cow from a Love Cambodia congregation’s cow bank. Love Cambodia is one of World Renew’s eight church partners in Cambodia.

Through World Renew’s church mobilization strategy, Yun and Neum are able to make ends meet. They received the loan of one cow from a Love Cambodia congregation’s cow bank. Love Cambodia is one of World Renew’s eight church partners in Cambodia.

Their cow has had three calves. From the sale of the cow’s milk and also from chickens, Yun & Neum are able to pay back the loan of the cow with a small amount of interest, which will help purchase a cow for another family in the community. Not only are they able to repay their loan, they are able to send their children to school!

Yun and Neum must work hard gathering forage every day for the cows to eat, but they are so proud of their achievement they smile broadly as they describe their life together.

Pastor Pharek, the pastor of the Love Cambodia congregation, says it is a great blessing for his church to see how they are able to be a blessing to Yun and Neum. And in the community the church has gained respect and appreciation.

This story is the first of a series of church mobilization stories.

World Renew partners 33 denominations around the world. Each denomination is potentially linked to hundreds of congregations; thus approximately 3.7 million congregations are engaged in World Renew's work! This approach gives World Renew access to remote communities and also assures the sustainability of World Renew’s work. Churches are an integral part of communities, and they don’t disappear when development money runs out!
