Since 1982, World Renew has been working in Uganda to help communities implement life-changing programs such as agriculture training, village savings and loans groups, HIV/AIDS response, and church capacity building.
Known as the “pearl of Africa,” Uganda has varied landscapes, from volcanic mountains to lush rainforests. Over 80% of the population live in rural areas, and almost half of the population is 15 years of age or younger. Although the country has greatly reduced monetary poverty in recent years, it still faces hurdles in improving sanitation, electricity, education access, and child health. World Renew works to help vulnerable families and communities in Uganda achieve food security, improve livelihoods and income, and become more resilient to disasters and economic shocks.
“I have learned problem solving skills and the different methods of conflict management — how to treat others with respect and love, so as to demonstrate God’s love. My life has completely changed from perpetrator of conflict to a changemaker.”
– Dubula, young leader
