ZAMBIA Jericho Nyirenda is a small-scale farmer in the village of Katandala in Zambia. Jericho is happily married to Jane Phiri and they are proud parents of six children, two boys and four girls.
HONDURAS - Years ago Daniel Bustillo became completely blind after being bitten by a venomous snake. Life in the mountain village of El Coyolar is not easy for him. The steep, rocky terrain presents a challenge for getting around and he is not able to farm in the way he did before losing his sight.
UGANDA - “I’m a pastor and I don’t want to be a burden to my fellow Christians,” says Pastor Erupu Silver. “I have purposed to be creative and be an example as a Christian leader. As the apostle Paul said in First Thessalonians 2:9, ‘Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.’ This verse is an inspiration to me as a man of God.”
UGANDA - In Uganda, World Renew and our local partner, the Nebbi Diocese of the Church of Uganda, support an integrated food security project in the West Nile region. This project includes community self-help groups, village savings and loan groups, training in modern farming techniques, and gender-related trainings to improve livelihoods.
GUATEMALA - El Tineco is a farming community in the mountains of El Palmar, Quetzaltenango, and has been working with World Renew partner Vine and Branches for a number of years on a variety of programs, including sustainable agriculture, preventative health, and community organization. El Tineco has also developed a strong relationship with one of our church partners, the Christian Reformed Church of Pease, Minnesota, over the past seven years.

KENYA - Francis Mukui is a zucchini farmer in the Mundoro area of the settlement of Kiganjo in south central Kenya. Now twenty-six years old, he has been farming for the last two years but has had trouble finding markets for his product. “Zucchini are delicate products,” he says. “Once they mature, they must get to market immediately, otherwise they are wasted.” Mr. Mukui has also struggled to grow a product of high-enough quality. Between the fragile nature and inconsistent quality of his product, he says he used to lose up to 100 kgs in a week, and so almost gave up on farming.
