Happy New Year!
I hope this year has started on a good note for you and your families. Here are a few highlights and hopes for this NEW YEAR and NEW BEGINNINGs for our family and the partners of World Renew in Zambia.
For the Orkar-Sagara Family:
- Emmanuel is a year old and loving the freedom he is experiencing now that he is walking.
- Elizabeth is 3½ years old, and Esther is 6 years old. Since we have not been able to find suitable schools for the girls, we have opted to hire teachers who are working with the girls one-on-one. Although they miss the social aspect of school, our HOPE is that they continue to learn a lot and will be able to stay on track with children their own age back in Canada.
- Ephraim and Patsy were happy to celebrate eleven years of marriage and pray for God’s grace as they continue on their life’s journey together.
For the Partners of World Renew in Zambia
- There has been good rain in the area so far, and farmers are hopeful for a good harvest in April and May of this year.
- The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Relief and Development Department has recently hired a new national coordinator for the development department and appointed all new board members. Our HOPE is that the skills and experience that Mr. Bernard Zulu and the board members bring to their roles are the right skills for the organization in this time and season of its development.
- The Reformed Church in Zambia Diaconial Department underwent a World Renew program evaluation in 2012. In 2013, they HOPE to implement some new programs that will help pastors in the local church with a more practical outlook as they minister to their congregants.
- World Renew in Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique is embarking on a new strategy. We hope to strengthen the relationships between the development departments we work with and their mother churches to help the two entities have a more wholistic diaconal ministry and empower the church to be salt and light in their communities.
Thank you for your prayers and support in this past year and in the year to come.
God Bless,
Patsy Orkar-Sagara
